Component content

Weathering resistant steel has better corrosion resistance in atmosphere than conventional carbon steel. Compared with stainless steel, weathering steel only trace alloy elements, such as phosphorus, copper, chromium, nickel, molybdenum, niobium, vanadium, titanium, alloy elements total only a few percent, and not like stainless steel, up to more than 10 percent, so the price is relatively low.

Its characteristics are: the alloy composition and weight percentage content of weathering steel are: C: 0.12 ~ 0.21, Si: 0.2 ~ 2.0, Mn: 0.7 ~ 2.0, S 0.036, P0.034, Cu: 0.10 ~ 0.40, Al <0.2, the rest is Fe and trace impurities. By alloying Cu, Mn, Si, Al, and simply adjusting the content of some elements of ordinary low carbon steel (Q235 steel), without changing the production process conditions of Q235 steel, we can produce economic weathering steel with good atmospheric corrosion resistance and comprehensive mechanical properties.

Application

Weathering steel has the characteristics of rust resistance, corrosion resistance, thinning and consumption reduction, labor saving and energy saving, so that component manufacturers and users benefit. Mainly used in railways, vehicles, Bridges, pylons and other steel structures exposed to the atmosphere for a long time. Used for manufacturing containers, railway vehicles, oil derricks, seaport buildings, oil platforms and chemical and petroleum equipment containing hydrogen sulfide corrosive medium containers and other structural parts.

Application and examples in engineering field:
