4.The production principle of weathering steel.

After adding phosphorus, copper, chromium, nickel and other trace elements to the steel, a dense and highly adhesive protective film is formed on the surface of the steel, which hinders the inward diffusion and development of rust, and protects the substrate under the rust layer to slow down its corrosion rate. The amorphous spinel oxide layer with a thickness of about 50 μm to 100 μm formed between the rust layer and the substrate is dense and has good adhesion to the substrate metal. Due to the existence of this dense oxide film, it prevents oxygen and oxygen in the atmosphere. The infiltration of water into the steel matrix slows down the deep development of corrosion into the steel material and greatly improves the atmospheric corrosion resistance of the steel material.

5.Manufacturing process of weathering steel.

Weathering steel generally adopts the process route of feeding concentrate into the furnace - smelting (converter, electric furnace - microalloying treatment - argon blowing - LF refining - low superheat continuous casting (feeding rare earth wire) - controlled rolling and controlled cooling. During smelting, The scrap steel is added to the furnace together with the charge, and smelted according to the conventional process. After tapping, the deoxidizer and alloy are added. After the molten steel is treated with argon blowing, it is immediately cast. Rare earth elements are added to the steel, the weathering steel is purified, and the inclusion content is greatly reduced.

6.Common parameters of weathering steel.

The thickness of weathering steel sheet is usually 1.5mm~4mm, the thickness of medium plate is 4mm~20mm, the thickness of thick plate is 20mm~60mm, and the thickness of extra-thick plate can reach 80mm, and the width is conventional 0.5m, 1m, 1.2m, 1.5mm, 2m and so on.
