The production process of the spiral welded pipe 

The raw material of the spiral welded pipe includes strips and plates, and plates with a thickness of more than 19mm are used. When using strips, in order to ensure the continuous supply of materials during the butt welding of the front and rear plate coils, a looper device can be used, or a flying welding trolley can be used for butt welding connection. As shown in the figure, the flying welding trolley can be used. The operation is done as it moves along the track. When the tail of the front coil steel is bitten by the rear clamp of the butt welding machine, the trolley is pulled forward at the same speed as that of the forming-pre-welding machine. After the butt welding is completed, the rear clamp is released, and the trolley returns by itself to the original position. When using the plate, the single steel plate should be butt welded into a strip outside the operation line, and then sent to the operation process line for butt welding connection with a flying welding trolley. Automatic submerged arc welding is used for butt welding, which is performed on the inner surface of the pipe, and the incompletely welded parts are formed and pre-welded, and then repaired on the outer surface of the pipe, and then the spiral weld is internally and externally welded. Before the strip enters the forming machine, the edge of the plate must be pre-bent to a certain curvature according to the pipe diameter, wall thickness and forming angle, so that the deformation curvature of the edge and the middle after forming is consistent, and the "bamboo" defect of the welding seam area is prevented from appearing. After pre-bending, it enters the spiral former for forming (see spiral forming) and pre-welding. In order to improve productivity, one forming-pre-welding wire is used to match with multiple internal and external welding wires. This can not only improve the quality of the weld, but also greatly increase the output. Pre-welding generally adopts shielded gas arc welding or high-frequency resistance welding with faster welding speed, full-length welding, and multi-pole automatic submerged arc welding is used for this welding. 

It is increasingly harsh and the service life of the pipeline should be extended as much as possible, so the main development direction of the spiral welded pipe is: 

  • To produce large-diameter thick-walled pipes to improve the pressure resistance;
