Alloy 6082 is an Al-Mg-Si alloy. The ratio of Mg to Si content in the 6082 alloy aluminum rod is 0.5~1.71, so in addition to forming the strengthening phase MgzSi, Si has more excess Si. In order to eliminate the adverse effect of excess si, a certain amount of Mn is added to the alloy. Mn in the alloy forms a supersaturated solid solution during the semi-continuous casting process, and the supersaturated solid solution decomposes to disperse compounds during the subsequent heating and extrusion processes. All of these dispersing compounds can increase the recrystallization temperature. At the same time, Mn reacts with excess Si and other elements to form intermetallic compounds of Al-Mn-Si and Al-Fe-Mn-Si, which improve the corrosion resistance of the alloy.
