1. 1/4" Stainless steel Plate elements
Carbon (C): Improve the deformation resistance and tensile strength of the blade; Enhance hardness and improve abrasion resistance.
Chromium (Cr): Increase hardness, tensile strength and toughness; Prevent wear and corrosion.
Cobalt (Co): Increase the hardness and strength, so that it can withstand high temperature quenching; Used in more complex alloys to enhance certain individual characteristics of other elements.
Copper (Cu): Enhance corrosion resistance; Enhance wear resistance.
Manganese (Mn): Increase the quenchability, wear resistance and tensile strength; Removal of oxygen from molten metals by separate oxidation and separate vaporization; When added in large quantities, the hardness is enhanced, but the brittleness is improved.
Molybdenum (Mo): Enhance strength, hardness, quenchability and toughness; Improve machinability and corrosion resistance.
Nickel (Ni): Enhance strength, hardness and corrosion resistance.
Phosphorus (P): enhances strength, machinability and hardness.
2. Classification of stainless steel plate
(1) according to the thickness
Sheet (0.2 mm to 4 mm)
Medium plate (4mm-20mm)
Plate (20 mm - 60 mm)
Thick plate (60-115 - mm)
(2) According to the production method
Hot rolled steel plate
Cold rolled steel sheet
3. 1/4" Stainless Steel Plate
1/4" is the thickness of the steel plate. We have a variety of specifications in stock, and of course we also provide customized service.
The conventional size is 1219*2438, 1219*3048, 1219*4000,
The thickness is generally 0.4mm, 0.6mm, 0.8mm, 1.0mm, 1.2mm, 1.5mm
4. Stainless steel and carbon steel difference
(1) In terms of corrosion resistance and wear resistance, stainless steel is much better than carbon steel. Because there is metal chromium in stainless steel, when the content of chromium reaches a certain level, it will form a protective film, which can isolate the material with corrosion and wear. It's not found in carbon steel, so carbon steel is more likely to rust.
(2) In appearance, stainless steel is much brighter and smoother than carbon steel. Because stainless steel contains nickel and chromium, it will be more metallic luster, and the surface is smooth. The main elements in carbon steel are carbon and iron, so it will be darker than stainless steel, and the surface is not very smooth.
(3) In terms of price, stainless steel is also slightly higher than carbon steel. Because a lot of metal is added in stainless steel, and the production process is more complicated, while carbon steel is not added, and the production process is simple. So stainless steel is more expensive than carbon steel.
5. Stainless steel material type
304 L: Low carbon, so more corrosion resistance, easy heat treatment, but poor mechanical, suitable for welding and heat treatment.
309 S: with a large amount of chromium, nickel, so heat resistance, oxidation resistance is good, used for heat exchangers, boiler components, jet engines.
316: With better resistance to chloride corrosion, mainly used in food industry, watch accessories, pharmaceutical industry and surgical
316 L: Low carbon, so more corrosion resistance, easy heat treatment, used in chemical processing equipment, nuclear power generators, refrigerating agent storage.
440: High strength cutting tool steel, slightly higher carbon content, after appropriate heat treatment can obtain high yield strength, hardness can reach 58HRC, belongs to the hardest stainless steel. The most common example of this application is the "razor blade".
6. Performance of stainless steel
(1) Corrosion resistance of stainless steel
The stainless steel plate has similar resistance to general corrosion as the unstable Ni-CR 304. Prolonged heating in the temperature range of chromium carbide degree may affect the performance of alloys 321 and 347 in harsh corrosive media. It is mainly used in high temperature applications, which require strong resistance to sensitization to prevent intergranular corrosion at lower temperatures.
(2) High temperature oxidation resistance
Stainless steel plate has high temperature oxidation resistance, however, the oxidation rate will be affected by the exposure environment and product form and other inherent factors.
(3) Physical properties
Stainless steel can keep the surface clean, so its heat transfer is better than other metals with higher thermal conductivity.
